No I don’t enjoy moving. But I’m in a program with my company where I had the potential to move around a few times. So I knew what to expect.
Anyway, the more important news is that my wife and I will be closer to our family and friends and be back in an area we enjoy, Quad Cities. I’m looking forward to it. I don’t have any pics yet of the new place, but hopefully early June I will have some to share.
While we were shopping around for a home we came across some interesting things. For one, we saw a private Catholic school named “Assumption High School”. Call me crazy but is that not the WORST name for a school? My guess is no one thought about the meaning of that word in a dictionary definition sense before applying it to the name of a school. I laughed.
We also saw some very interesting rugs for sale on the corner of a major intersection. Huge rugs. My favorite was the juxtaposed Dora the Explorer rug with the Playboy rug. Classic! And who can deny themselves the two panthers about to kiss with the moon taking up the majority of the rug positioned behind them showing the heart shape the panthers created.
Then there was the house where the entire electrical system did have 3 wire run. The only grounded plugs were in the basement. About the only thing we have to could plug in is a toaster and a lamp. I’m thinking about calling that person back and telling her she is going to have a hard time selling the place because of that.

Well the list of stuff to unpack is slowly dwindling down. The basement is really all that is left. We started positioning everything and I figured out where to place things and then there were tornadoes all across Iowa. We didn’t get hit (thank you Mother Nature) but we did get lots of rain. And someone patched together our basement window. And it lets in water, pretty badly. And guess where I setup my computer desk and such?
Nothing got ruined but I had a lot of stuff already placed and it’s just my bad luck that I placed the stuff right where the water pools on the floor. I figured the warning signs of flooded water were from biblical Iowa flooding. Apparently not. So we got more re-arranging to do. Ugh!
The new home is nice though. Cozy, quite, close to everything we need, close to a bike trail, and work. The only “close” that is missing is friends. But at least we will only have to be here for a year.
Well my job is moving me already and I’m going to be moving to the Waterloo Cedar Falls, IA area. I consider it to be the Bloomington Normal of Iowa since both towns are pretty similar to their counterparts. With the only real difference being the towns in Iowa are smaller.
My new position will be working with VMWare a lot and doing some networking. I am looking forward to the work but not so much about moving.
Gotta go soon so I will write more later.
