What was that About Measure Twice…

My Fiance and I are making a table to go behind our bed. We don’t have a headboard for our bed, and this wasn’t a problem when the bed was against a wall in the corner, where one wall covers the back of the bed, and the other wall covers one of the long sides of the bed.
Well we did some rearranging a few weeks ago and moved the bed so the back of it rests in a corner. Meaning there is no back to the bed. For how our room is set up this works nicely, but there is a lot of room for stuff to fall behind the back of the bed now. So to remedy this, my Fiance had the brilliant idea to build a table to put back there. This way we could have a table behind us to set things on (which we both very much like) and we could build the table up a bit to act as a headboard.
Well we did some measurements and found the best height from the ground would be 3 feet for the headboard. To make this thing sturdy, my plan was to build a corner table (essentially two Right Triangle boards separated with 3 legs) and then slap on the headboard. Well if the headboard is 3 feet in height than the legs needs to be 3 feet in height also, right? Wrong!
