Top Ways to File Taxes

Click here for some advice on which tax services to use

The evaluation criteria were ease of use, the amount of tax information and assistance provided, the cost for filing a state return, and accuracy. FiLife ended up choosing eight services as their “top picks”—”[they] guided us through life events from the past year and helped us figure out which forms we needed to file. They asked us questions that we didn’t even know we needed to answer. Best of all, they used language that we understood. And we never had a technical snafu.”

FiLife’s top eight picks:
* CompleteTax
* efiletaxreturns.net
* eSmartTax by Liberty Tax Service
* ezTaxReturn
* Free TaxACT
* H&R Block
* TaxSlayer Free Returns.com
* Turbo Tax

I used eSmartTax by Liberty Tax Service. It was free simple and easy to use. They basically asked you questions and based on your responses got everything setup for you. Then you enter the data from your Tax papers your company and bank sends in. And viola! Within about 30 minutes you go from entering in the website to having your tax refund direct deposited right to you.

All in all it took me about an hour because I had to fuddle around with the tuition thing. But next year I expect it to take me about 15 minutes since I likely will not have a house or anything. Quick, simple, good help functions if you need them, and I got my refund in about a week and a half. :mrgreen:
