Sprint Blackberry 8703e “Data Connection Refused”

Tagged with:

Well as I reported awhile ago, I have a crackberry device. And I really do like it. So far in the last two months I have only missed one tasked. I have yet to miss a meeting, appointment, or homework assignment. Unfortunately the one task I missed was a project at work. Not a major one, but still makes me feel pretty bad.

Normally my track record would be much worse due to my terrible memory. And if you have a horrible memory and your workplace uses the Microsoft Exchange system, I highly highly recommend a Blackberry device.

In any case, one great features with the Blackberry is that you can hook it up to a computer using the data cable and get Internet access. With Sprint you just need the Sprint Mobile Broadband Software installed, the cable hooking up your Blackberry device to a computer or notebook, and then you are good to go.

But when I tried it failed. I got an error message, “error #678″ or something like that on the computer. And the Blackberry device said on the screen “Data Connection Refused”. I hunted around on the Internet and found a few things. Press the “ALT” “CAP” and “DEL” keys at the same time twice. This will do a soft reset and no data on the phone will be lost.

After trying that I ended up calling Sprint. They had me set up on the unlimited Blackberry plan, but I didn’t have the right provision on my account. Apparently this is a common problem and with a call to Sprint they can quickly fix things for you. I recommend calling from a phone other than your Blackberry though…

Blackberry… err… Crackberry

The title says it all. Man I love my Blackberry! I have been using it for about 3 weeks now and my productivity and efficiency have at least doubled.

See I have a real problem remembering important things and just very general things. My brain is very strange. I can remember things very visually, I see memories played out as a movie in my head and they go back to about when I was two or three. But yet we could have a conversation and I will forget what we said 15 minutes later.

Enter the Blackberry…
