Happy B-Day Google
So I have a couple good reasons to celebrate Google’s 10th birthday. For one, they have dramatically changed the way people work on the Internet and do their day to day Internet tasks. Searching on Google is incredibly easy but very efficient. They first time I searched with Google I was blown away. I couldn’t believe the first link that came up was the one I wanted.
Then I remember in the summer of 04 my sister told me about Gmail. I said I didn’t need another email address as I was already using Yahoo and was tired of having people switch me from one crappy client to another. She explained it was different and invited me (one of her friends worked at Google).
I tried it out and fell in love. I was floored that I was only getting a few spam messages a day and they were all going to my spam folder. Not only that none were false positives. When Gmail rolled around I was instantly hooked with Google’s ability to create easy, lightweight, and blazing fast software. Now Chrome has solidified this opinion…
Duck Tales Explain Inflation… Bailout
A friends email and video he sent:
But they passed the bill today, so basically we are all fucked! I have a great idea lets fix a problem of mal-investment with more mal-investment by George that’s genius.  Hey I have an even better idea lets do it with monopoly money instead of real money because were broke as shit!  It will only cause the value of peoples actual money to drop significantly.  But what does it really matter while the senate was busy stuffing the bill with so much pork that it couldn’t possibly fail the Federal Reserve already printed off 300 Billion dollars of monopoly money to try and fix the problem.  Jesus fucking Christ………
Ok I feel a little better, but I am still going to call my congress woman and ream the shit out of her.  I called her to state my dissatisfaction but apparently it did as much good as I though it would, she voted for it.  Maybe this video is more on her level
I don’t quite foresee the same future, but it’s still humorous nonetheless. I think money needed to be pumped in to show investors they can still invest and to help with the liquidity of banks. Sweden went through a similar economic crisis in 1992 and came out on top. $18 Million of tax dollars was used and almost all were recouped.
Wow, what a failure that piece of socialism was huh? ![]()
Some Important Questions on Religion
A couple videos from the Daily Show. I recommend taking a few minutes to watch and think about this topic. I think these questions are important because it’s never made sense to me that religion gets a free pass of all the ideas we have in the marketplace. Found via Les…
Live Debate Blogging: Biden vs. Palin
One question… Can Palin complete a single thought or sentence for that matter that doesn’t just keep rambling on into one long sentence that never seems to end, to the point where you sit there and wonder what the original point was in the first place it’s just unreal how she keeps going on and on and I just can’t believe how close she is to being president, speaking on presidents did you hear what Bush did today…Â
Another low Power PC Joins the Party
This one from fit-PC. The thing I really like about this one is the built in wireless. What’s the hardware:
CPU: AMD Geode LX800 500MHz Chipset: AMD CS5536 Display: Integrated Geode LX display controller up to 1920×1440 Memory: 512MB DDR 333MHz soldered on-board Hard disk: 2.5†IDE 60GB Ports:
RJ45 Ethernet port 100Mbps
WLAN 802.11b/g 54Mbps
3 x USB 2.0 HiSpeed 480Mbps
mini RS-232 (cable available from CompuLab)
VGA DB15
Stereo line-out audio (headphones)
Stereo line-in audio / Mic
The ever popular AMD Geode. I think these kind of computers will likely become the systems of the future for those that still buy physical boxes. As CDs become more of a thing of the past less people are having a need for them.
What’s even more impressive?
Power consumption: 4-6W
Another trend of computers we are seeing is lower power consumption. Even with more powerful CPUs like the latest from Intel and AMD we are seeing lower and lower power consumption. In fact when data centers started switching from Intel to AMDs for CPUs in their servers because of power consumption per processing power, Intel got the hint and they now make more efficient CPUs.
As with the other computers I have reported on, I wish I could get my paws on one.

Time to Upgrade Firefox
Time to upgrade Firefox to version 3.03:
Mozilla patched a vulnerability in the Firefox Password Manager feature last week, just days after it released Firefox 3.0.2 to address 11 security flaws. Firefox 3.0.3 was slated to be released this week, but the fix was pushed out late in the day on Friday, September 26. Mozilla became aware of the password problem when, after installing Firefox 3.0.2, some users reported they were unable to retrieve saved passwords or save new site passwords.
Ubuntu on PS3: It Works
I just need to do quite a bit more work to get everything up and running. I figured out screen resolution, which took some tinkering… I also restored my PS3 settings. This means I am back to how I was before yesterday, except I also have Ubuntu installed.
I will write more once everything works I am flying high!
Live Debate Feedback
McCain says, “[...] The troops know I’ll take care of them cause I love them [...]”
But he doesn’t say how… I need more than words.
