Mediacom Sucks! Yes, more so than Comcast
Been living at the new place over a week and still no Internet. Mediacom knew about the installation 2 weeks before they were scheduled to come out. Plenty of time to prepare and plenty of time to figure out what was needed to get us set up.
I made sure they knew that we had no existing cable lines in the place, but last Monday when the installer came out he froze and said he couldn’t get us hooked up. We needed the person that can run cable to come out. The whole thing pisses me off, because there is plenty of cable running through the building. Hell I have ran cable, put in wall boxes, and hooked up people before. None of it is all that complicated.
Anyways I have no idea when I will be able to write again, so I’ll be back when I can.

Welcome to my blog! Topics tend to focus on Science and Technology, but I throw in personal stuff too. I hope you enjoy!

If there is something that sucks even worse than Comcast, why are people worried about the LHC causing a black hole?

LOL! It’s true though, this company takes the cake when it comes to worst company ever. And because our government stupidly supports cable company monopolies I have no choice but to put up with the bullshit. UGH!!

Yeah…Fuck this company! We had our service turned on, after 3 phone calls to schedule it. They came out, turned on the cable, installed the 3 boxes & modem for the internet. He then told me that the modem could only be used by the jack in the kitchen…Yes, the god damn kitchen. After he left, I took the modem down stairs and coupled it with my router, as we have a service rack in the basement that supplies internet to the entire house. Went to turn on the tv and he didnt configure any of the tv’s to the cable setting so I fixed that problem. Then, when everything was set up and configured, we had just the guide telling us what was on each channel, but the rest of the screen was black. After 2 calls, they said he forgot to scan the boxes. I gave the serial numbers as per their request and was told they would be working in 20 minutes. Two hours later and another call to them, they told me they had to send a flash or something. That fixed the boxes and we had cable. The power went out for about 3 minutes later that night and we had to start all over as something with the boxes was lost and had to be re flashed. The bill is not what we were told it would be, the discount is to “new construction homes only”… The best news…like you guys, I CANT go elsewhere!

It’s pretty terrible indeed. I wonder how long we will let this bullshit continue before we finally breakup the monopoly.
