Very true, Christians have no respect and yet demand respect. Atheism is just another belief, a person should be able to deide what they want when they are old enough, not forced into a religion before they know what is happening
This is totally true! I am an atheist and whenever i try to explain my beliefs to people they say that i am a satanist or an anti-christ. Atheism is just another religion. We don’t hate Christians.
Well I think you can find atheists that do in fact hate Christians, but I think religious folk would have an easier time trying to find an atheist that despises religion.
Even that is not a for sure thing though. For example I know atheists that have religious friends and some like myself are married to a religious person. We’re people just like everyone else.
Caity, atheism is not a religion. It is the absense of theism (belief in god(s)).
Atheists can be just as much a pain in the ass as theists when it comes to respecting each others opinions. An issue generally arises when we realize that there is no doctrine demanding that atheists convert people from belief in god(s). The problem is further aggitated by the belief that this doctrine was written by an all powerful (and cruel) being who will kick the hell out of you if you don’t do what they say.
I am one of the atheists who does not have respect for religion or religious beliefs. I roll my eyes and will conversationally tear religious beliefs to shreds whenever I can. But that has nothing to do with the religion of atheism (there is no such thing)… I am just a jerk, who also doesn’t believe in god and will try to make “you” feel like an idiot for doing so.
Atheists and Gnostics are right in most of their thinking
It has been common among religious believers to look with misgiving to atheists and Gnostics, and to think that they are mistaken; however, in many instances the opposite is the truth; some religious beliefs are not just irrelevant, but baseless. The “God” of main line traditions simply does not exist. I accepted the challenge of finding the One who may be recognized even by Gnostics and atheists: the Existence itself, “All-That-Is.” If something is there, that is God. Look at the book “Christianity Reformed From ist Roots – A life centered in God” (Amazon.com). I am confident that some of your friends will be relieved of the illusion, as I did myself.
