Back to Your Regularly Scheduled Program
I got back from the visitation and funeral for my friend I wrote about here. Both were beautiful, sad, and relieving. I say they were a relief because it was nice to have closure to such a horrific event. When we first heard about what happened it sounded like it was going to be awhile before the parents would have the body released to them. Luckily it didn’t take too long.
And the weather held up nicely for us on the way up. No problems at all. On the way back we were fighting rain, but that was it. Which was a huge sigh of relief! The family is doing good, but in situations like these that term is pretty relative. I think what helped them though was just the shear number of people that showed up. For the visitation the estimates are 2000 and the funeral was about 100-150.
I went to the visitation with my fiancee and two other friends. It took the four of us about 2hrs and 20 mins to reach the family from the point we entered into the line. But it was time I would gladly spend being as though I was in good company and was able to say hi and hug members of Maggie’s family. Here is the video presentation they had running at the visitation…
