Amazon Wish List

To whom it may concern-
I have updated my Amazon wish list for the holiday season, and will likely add a few more items to it. I think an Amazon wish list is the easiest way to get something that your special someone wants, without ruining the surprise. Now I have to get the rest of my family to update their wishlist!
[UPDATE]
Forgot to add that my wish list is listed on the sidebar…
And I forgot to include my shipping address in my Wish List. I think all is well now, but there are still opportunities for more mistakes ;-P

Welcome to my blog! Topics tend to focus on Science and Technology, but I throw in personal stuff too. I hope you enjoy!

I perused your Amazon wish list. Meh. Why the 60GB PS3?
A few suggestions should you get the inclination: John Brunner’s ‘Stand on Zanzibar” and “The Sheep Look Up”. The lieberry at the university probably has them. Plus, The Onion has released a new book — something akin to an Atlas, supposed to come up for this holiday season.
On the other hand maybe you could pick out something from the top 25 toys collection and work up a most desired toy list as well. Computer geeks have all sort of stuff in their work areas to demonstrate their connections to the “common man”.

Ouch! It’s a work in progress for sure…
The 60gb PS3 is because the others, besides the 20gb, have poor compatibility with PS2 games. But mostly I want a PS3 so I can mod it out and drop Linux on it and do some pretty cool things with Cell processor.
Thanks for the book recommendations. I will have to check them out. And keep my eye open for the Onion book.
That collection of the top 25 toys was awesome. Can you imagine the up roar if those toys were being sold here in the US…

Oooh. I didn’t know that, and I was just about to plink for an 80GB version.
I heard somewhere that there’s a HDTV module for PS3 that allows TiVO like capabilities in Europe. That would be pretty sweet; mostly I was thinking of getting it for the Blu-Ray capability but now I hear Blu-Ray is going the way of the Betamax. Damn you Sony!!!!
I’m just philosophically opposed to the XBox, but Wal-Mart has a Toshiba HD-DVD player for 299 (last week). Didn’t want to support Wal*Mart so didn’t get it either, although I was tempted just a bit.
Don’t take the “Meh”, the wrong way. Just have different tastes in books, is all. You don’t have a shipping address defined for the list.

I knew I had a good reason to put a blog post up about my wish list…
BTW, if you want a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player, I recommend the PS3 or Xbox 360. but also keep in mind, the Xbox360 has an external HD-DVD player you can buy that was meant to be used with the Xbox 360. But you can hook it up to an computer and it works fine. Meaning that for $200 you can watch HD-DVD movies, and it is external so portability is great!
I haven’t heard about the HDTV module thing for TiVO, but I do know the PS3 has HDMI capabilities. And I think it can do full 1080i which is pretty sweet!
If you want cheap TiVO service I recommend turning an old system into a KnoppMyth or MythUbuntu box. Both are badass!
