Blackberry… err… Crackberry

The title says it all. Man I love my Blackberry! I have been using it for about 3 weeks now and my productivity and efficiency have at least doubled.
See I have a real problem remembering important things and just very general things. My brain is very strange. I can remember things very visually, I see memories played out as a movie in my head and they go back to about when I was two or three. But yet we could have a conversation and I will forget what we said 15 minutes later.
Enter the Blackberry…
The University I work at is on the Microsoft Exchange system, so I have e-mail, calendaring, contacts, and tasks all on the system already that I am using. So rather than use a datebook or a notebook to write everything down and have two systems to maintain, I figured I could get a Blackberry and then have access to everything 24/7.
The way it works is simple. There is a Blackberry server on campus that connects to the MS Exchange servers. This blackberry server allows a Blackberry device to be connected to the MS Exchange system. It allows me to be connected to my email, calendar, etc 24/7! It even allows me send data to the Exchange system from my phone. Meaning, I can create Calendar items that will show up in Outlook when I get to my office. Pretty cool!
So far I haven’t missed a single homework assignment, project, meeting, or anything else. And I have been able to stay on top of assignments and such. Which is a great feeling. For me it was about finding a way to manage everything from one location. If I got a paper datebook or used something else, then I would have two systems to maintain and check. For me, even though it sounds rather simple, that is too much to handle. That and it’s a lot of wasted time. Following such a system leads to two incomplete systems, and that defeats the purpose of being organized.
Anyways, I have fallen in love with the scroll wheel that Blackberry has, and I think I will be willing to shell out the dough every month. It’s expensive for me to pay the money to have a Blackberry phone, but I will gladly pay the money for the features and improved efficiency I am getting.

Welcome to my blog! Topics tend to focus on Science and Technology, but I throw in personal stuff too. I hope you enjoy!
